Show Local News Items Mrs. Ruth Worthen entertained the O. D. O. club at her home last Friday. Fri-day. Mrs. Lizzie Andrus left Sunday for Salt Lake City to spend about a week with relatives. Miss Afton Bryner of Cedar City spent the week end here visiting her father. Mr. and Mrs. Wlllard Corry were visitors here the latter part of last week from Cedar City. Ezra Hayden of New Harmony underwent un-derwent an operation at the hospital here on Monday. Mrs. B. Glen Smith entertained the South Ward Gleaner girls at her home Monday evening. Mrs. D. Joseph McArthur returned to her home in Cedar City Sunday after spending a few days with her parents here. The East Ward Gleaner girls entertained en-tertained at a shower Monday evening eve-ning at the home of Miss Lila McAllister Mc-Allister in honor of Mrs. Paul Hafen. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Payne spent Monday night here en route to St. Joseph, Arizona, from Salt Lake City. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. McAllister. Mrs. P. R. Bentley arrived here; last Friday from Enterprise to spend the week with relatives. She is a guest at the home of Mrs. Kate Em-pey. Born A son to Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Em-erald Cox, Monday, February 25. Earl Worthen is seriously ill with an attack of pneumonia. Miss Margaret Blackburn is able to be out again after her long and serious illness. . . . ' Mrs. Adeline Kemp has returned from Salt Lake City where she has resided the past year. I G. W. Hail and Joseph S. Snow left i Monday for Las Vegas . and other Nevada points on a business trip. James Warner of Kanab was a business visitor in St. George the fore part of the week. J. H. Keller, court reporter for the Fifth judicial district, was a visitor visit-or in St. George this week. Mrs. LeRoy C. Shank and baby left the local hospital Wednesday. Mr. Shank came in from Bunkerville and took them home. Wesley A. Nelson, who has been ill with scarlet fever at his home here, ij 1 improving nicely at this writing. The Dixie College year book staff announces that the work on the annual is progressing rapidly. All material ma-terial up to date has been sent to the printers. Alma Nelson returned last Friday from Salt Lake City where he spent several days on business. Wayne C. Gardner had the misfortune mis-fortune to have his left hand badly mashed when a car on which he was working slipped from the jack. Mrs. B. Glenn Smith and Mrs. Mae McAllister entertained the Ath-enia Ath-enia club at the home of the former last Friday. Mrs. Effie Magleby of Monroe arrived ar-rived here Friday to be with her mother, Mrs. Amanda Sorenson, who is seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Koch of Richfield Rich-field and Mrs. Koch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Caldwell of LaPoint were St. George visitors the fore part of the week. Mrs. Marion McAllister spent Monday Mon-day with relatives here while en route from Salt Lake City to San Francisco where she will join her husband. Walter Hughes and daughter, Miss Maybelle, of Mesquite, spent Sunday and Monday here with Mrs. Hughes who is spending a few weeks here. Mrs. R. C. Knell and sons, Gordon and Harold, returned to their home at Cedar City Sunday after spending a few days hfre visiting Mrs. Hattie Morris. Stanley Snow of Los Angeles and Elliot Snow of Panaca left Saturday Satur-day for their homes after spending two weeks here with their mother, Mrs. Hattie Snow who is seriously ill'. Judge LeRoy H. Cox went to Fillmore Fill-more Sunday where on Monday he opened the first term of the district court. All cases were set ahead one week and he returned to St. George stopping in Beaver to settle pending litigation. He returned home Tuesday Tues-day and will spend the remainder 'of the week with his family. |
