Show NEW FORD CAR MAKES BIG HIT C. B. Petty of the Arrowhead garage, gar-age, Cedar City is demonstrating the new Ford in St. George this week. This car, a coach, was purchased in Salt Lake by Mr. Petty as a demonstration demon-stration car, and anyone who desires may take the wheel and try out the car himself. The new Ford is distinctively new, not merely a refinement of the old Model T. It has a forty horse-power motor, and it is claimed it will do 65 miles an hour. The car was driven a the rate of 54 miles an hour which was made without any appreciable effort and without any evidence of vibration, which is remarkable in a low price 4-clyinder 4-clyinder car. The ease with which the 54 mark was reached left no doubt that the car could easily make 65 per. The car has a remarkably fast pickup. It is very easy riding due to the low center of gravity which acts to prevent side-sway, and the long flexible springs and shock absorbers which are standard equipment. The new Ford is remarkably fast on hills, due to a fast second gear and also due to the fact that gears may be shifted up or down without the usual slowing up, and without clashing, clash-ing, at any speed. The cooling system is very efficient. With four passengers this coach made the grade on the Enterprise road out of St. George at between 30 and 40 miles an hour on high, and at the summit the motor was only warm to the tough. This car had been driven 550 miles. It is expected that cars will be available avail-able for delivery within 30 days, and at this time an agent will be appointed for St. George who will devote his entire en-tire time to selling Fords. Arrangements Arrange-ments have been made with Miller Bros, of St. George and Stevens Bros, of Hurricane by which these garages will attend to the serviceing of Fords sold in this territory. Ninety-day free service is given with each car sold. These garages will also carry a full line of parts and supplies and the new models will be displayed at these places. Service is guaranteed by the Ford Motor Company, as each dealer when purchasing "his first car is compelled to buy $500 worth of parts and supplies. sup-plies. This amount is reduced in proportion on additional purchases, but owners of the new cars are assur-red assur-red that they may get parts when needed. |
