Show DIXIE COLLEGE NOTES Recently the Nevada girls of the Dixie College challanged the Freshman Fresh-man girls for a game of basketball. They accepted the challenge and the game was played . after devotional Wednesday morning. The score at the end of the game was 6-0 in favor of Dixie. A basket being made by Dixie every quarter but the first one. The line up of the teams were as follows: Dixie, Nina Nisson, rf Addie Savage, Sav-age, If., LaVera McArthur, c, Dorothy Snow, sc., Lizzie Bettredge, rg., Maggie Blackburn, lg. Nevada, Mary Lyon, rf., Eva Lea-vitt, Lea-vitt, If., Daisy Leavitt, c, Rose Hardy, sc., Lavinia Wells, rg., Zclma Cooper, lg. Maggie Blackburn was the high point player of the game. The other basket being made by Addie Savage. Five Dixie College girls entered the Butterick national dressmaking contest con-test in December. The local contest closed January 17 when the five dresses dress-es were judged by local judges. Miss Virginia Jarvis received the local prize and Miss Mildred Bunker second prize. Miss Jarvis' dress will be send to the Butterick Publishing Company at New York where it will compete with prize dresses from all the high schools in America for the national cash prize of $50. The school winning first prize will receive a silver cup to be known as the Butterick cup. The Dixie . Agricultural club with their leader Jed R. Fawcett recently elected the following officers: Rulon Cottam, president; Pratt Prince, vice- president. Kenneth Cox, Sec. and Treasurer. This club is helping solve some of Dixie's agricultural problems and are working to put over better agricultural ag-ricultural programs. The B. A. C. will present their play "Enter Madame," here Thursday night the proceeds to go to our. Dixie College. Col-lege. Final tryouts for our school play will be held next Tuesday. The name of the play is "Apple Sauce." Quite a number of students are trying for parts so it will mean keen contesting. |
