Show HURRICANE Hurricane, October 5. Lafayette Spendlove, son of William W. and Alice I. Spendlove, departed this life Oct. 2, 19 2 6. He was born in Tropic, Garfield Co., Utah, Oct. 8, 18 9 6, and came with his family in the spring of 190 7 to Virgin, where they lived two or three years then moved to this place where they have since resided. Lafayette was an exemplary young man, loved and respected by all who knew him, as was shown by the large turnout at the funeral, friends and relatives coming from Hinckley, Cedar Ced-ar City, St. George, Ogden and Moccasin, Moc-casin, Ariz., as well as from nearby towns. Funeral Services Funeral services were held in the Hurricane public schoolhouse Oct. 4, Counselor J. Harvey Hall presiding. There was a good attendance hi relatives rela-tives and friends and a profusion of flowers. The speakers were Elders E. N. Stanworth, .James Jepson, James Judd, Claudius Hirschi, Amos Workman, Work-man, John Crawford, David Hirschi and J. H. Hall. Tribute was paid deceased for his great faith, good habits, "and his word was his bond." Musical numbers, were "Sometime We'll Understand," by the choir; "Lead Me Gently Home," by choir; "One Fleeting Hour," by Sister Rhoda Prince; "Often When The Way Is Weary," by Sister Ivie Wilson, Wil-son, and "Beautiful Home," by the ward choir. Opening prayer was by Elder Ira E. Brads-haw, benediction by Elder Chauncey Sandberg. The grave was dedicated by Elder Joel S. Eagar. School was closed Monday and Tuesday during teachers' convention at St. George. Charles Stratton and Samuel Wright are on the sick list. |
