Show POWER COMPANY REPORT REFLECTS RAPID GROWTH The 1928 annual report of the Dixie Power- Company is being distributed to stockholders this week. The report shows an increase in business and a substantial expansion of the company throughout southern Utah. Total income for the year is given as $158,305.18. A comparison with the gross income of 1927 shows an increase in-crease of 42.09 per cent. On November 30, 1928 the company had 2249 connected con-nected services as compared with 2032 similar services on the same date in 1927 ; an increase of 10.68 per cent. The report continues: The drouth condition of 1927 was exceeded by that of this year, and stream flow in this region dropped to from 40 to 60 per cent of the lowest record for twenty years. Water shortage was so severe that the Telluride Power Company was unable un-able to deliver to our lines the service they had assured in July would be available. The embarrassed service was below standard and resulted in a substantial substan-tial loss of business. The benefits reasonably expected from storage water wa-ter in the Carter reservoir were not realized because stream, flow for the year Was too low to permit filling the reservoir. By financing, through the sale of one year 6 per cent debenture notes, funds were made available for construction con-struction of an 1100 horse power hydro electric plant located on the Virgin river. This work was commenced in July and the plant is now about 80 per cent complete and is expected to go in service within a few weeks. Business Outlook Power demands for mining operations opera-tions indicates a considerable increase in-crease in the near future. A number of new irrigation pumps will commence this season. The growth in the towns served is healthy and there is a considerably increasing in-creasing demand for residence heat and power installations. |
