Show PLANE FORCED DOVNBY STORM Deep Snow in Diamond Valley Prevents Take-off; Pilots and Passengers Brought Here A large tri-motor 12-passenger Fok-ker Fok-ker plane, east bound, was forced down at Carter's ranch in upper Diamond Dia-mond valley Wednesday afternoon at 1-10 during the severe snow storm -which hit this section. Bad visibility compelled the pilot to bring the ship to earth until the weather cleared, when an attempt was made to take off. Snow and mud prevented the plane from rising and on the fifth attempt a wheel was smashed and a tire blown when the plane struck a large rock. The ship was a Wiestern Air Express mail and passenger plane and was piloted pi-loted by Maurice Graham. With him was an assistant pilot, David Doty, and two passengers, one of whom was a United Press reporter who has been at Las Vegas. The pilots and passengers pass-engers were brought to St. George last night by the mail driver, Henderson Hender-son Cox. Mr. Doty and the two passengers pas-sengers left early this morning by bus for Salt Lake, while Mr. Graham will remain until repairs are made. A new wheel and tire have been wired for and mechanics are expected to come here by plane from Salt Lake or Los Angeles to make make the repairs. |
