Show : COLLEGE OBSERVES ANNUAL "D" DAY J The Dixie College animal "D" : day was observed Friday, March i IS, with the usual activities. In j the forenoon the D on the j black hill received its regular coat of whitewash, applied by i the sophomore, boys. Water was 'tarried up the bill by the first year high school boys, according accord-ing to the tradition of the school. The other men of the school cleaned up the campus and a large group went out to the park and worked on the baseball diamond. dia-mond. Lunch was served on the hill at noon, where each class presented a toast and stunt. At 8:30 in the evening tho band gave a short concert In the jO"in air pavilion and played the ' school song while the D was ( lighted. At 10 o'clock the coro-i coro-i nation ceremonies were held. Tho queen, Miss Ro.xoy Romney, was presented by Wayne Robiimon, I president of tho fourth ye;ir ! class, and accepted by Preston Larson, president of the student body. The queen's procession entered enter-ed as follows: Heralds, Ccna Higher? and Grace Bentley. Flower girls, Olive Brooks and Carina Simmons. The crown bearer bear-er was D. C. Watson. Following in the procession were the girls of the school who competed for the honor, and their partners: Mary McGregor and June Moody, Verna Leav-itt Leav-itt and Grant Bowler, Marion Lee and Lewis Pulsipher, Thel- ma Heaton and Mar McGregor, Mona Reber and Ronald Faw-cett, Faw-cett, rhyllis Nisson and Antone Nisson. The queen was crowned by Preston Larson after which each class gave her a tribute; the first years were represented by Evelyn Cannon; second years, Inez Larson; third, LoRen Watson; Wat-son; fourth, Carina Ha fen; freshmen, Adelia Allen; sophomores, sopho-mores, Grant Langslon. Miss Romney responded with a tribute tri-bute to the "D". |
