Show HURRICANE RESIDENT DIED LASTJHURSOAY Was Formerly Prominent Southern South-ern Utah Stockman, and Church Worker. John Wood, 73, died Thursday at his home in Hurricane following fol-lowing an illness of several months. He was born September 27, 1S58, at Nephi, a son of John and Ellen Smith Wood, early pioneers of Utah. While he was very young lie came to Dixie with his parents, and endured en-dured all the hardships and privations pri-vations incident to those times. A great deal of his early life was spent in the cattle industry. indus-try. He. was known as an expert ex-pert horseman. On the range he was a leader among men, and could be relied upon for honesty, hon-esty, integrity and living his religion re-ligion on the round-up as well as when in the shadow of the church. He was an active church worker, work-er, and was a counselor to Bish op James Ballard of Grafton for twenty years. In the church capacity ca-pacity he also traced his genealogy, gen-ealogy, and had a record of 1500 names of his kindred dead. He was county commissioner for one term, and was road supervisor for ten years. He was married in the St. George temple to Sarah Jane Gibson, who, with six children, survive. They are: Andrew J., Ether, Erwin and Claud, Hurricane; Hur-ricane; Clarence, Ruth, Nevada, and Mrs. Ivie Ballard, Salt Lake City. Other survivors are a sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Emily Gibson, thirty-five thirty-five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Hurricane high school auditorium under the direction di-rection of Bishop Ira Bradshaw of the South ward. Singing by the choir, "The Resurrection Day." Invocat'on. Bisho.u Frank T. Jf.hnson of the North ward. Vocal solo with chorus, "I Have Read of a Beautiful City," Frank Barber. The speakers were James N. Stan worth, E. N. Stan worth. James W. Imlay, President Claud Hirschi and David Hirschi. A ladies' chorus sang "Say Not That I Journey Alone." and a violin solo. "Oh. My Father." was played by Orman Weight. ! Benediction. Ira H.
