Show COURT UPHOLDS CIGARET LAW The state supreme court ou Thursday again upheld the constitutionality con-stitutionality of the Utah cigaret advertising law. The decision was against the Packer corporation, defendant in a similar previous action, a rehearing re-hearing of which also was denied. de-nied. In each case an agent of the corporation had been arrested for carrying advertisements of cigarets on billboards, contrary to provisions of the act which prohibits advertising of tobacco on billboards, or elswhere than in newspapers and magazines, or at stores distributing such cem-modities. cem-modities. In the first case, conviction was obtained in justice court, the decision was reversed in district court, and the case went to the supreme court on appeal by the state. The supreme court reversed the district court and upheld the constitutionality of the law. A similar procedure marked the second case. It is deemed possible that both cases will be appealed to the United States supreme court. |
