Show LEGION CARD GIVES PROMISE 0FFAST30UTS Fights Will Be Held at the Wadsworth Theater Starting Start-ing at 7:30 P. M., Thurs-d Thurs-d a y, September 2 4th The Legion fight card to be staged at the Wadsworth theater the-ater the night of Thursday, September Sep-tember 2 4, has been completed and plenty of action is in prospect pros-pect from the first preliminary to the close of the headliner, which will bring together Sam Pugh of Kanab and Cyril Granger Gran-ger of Mesquite. These two boxed box-ed four rounds in Hurricane during dur-ing the. Peach days celebration, and the bout was considered one of the best seen in these parts. Other bouts are as follows: Tom Williams, 13 9 pounds, of Globe, Arizona, and Red Warren, War-ren, 140 pounds, of Spanish Fork. Williams is a newcomer here, and this will be his first local ring appearance. He was only recently discharged from the army and has had over a year's experience in the ring. While he is not now in condition, con-dition, he is working out every day and expects to get in shape by the night cf the fight. His opponent comes here with quite a reputation, having won the championship of his division at the Utah national guard encampment en-campment at Jordan Narrows last summer. Joe Littlelield, 135 pounds, of Ogden, vs. Mug Warren, of Spanish Fork, a brother of Red. Verl Kelsey, of New Harmony, vs. Walter Christian, of St. George. Lewis Gerber vs. Mark Hopkins, Hop-kins, both of St. George. These two boys staged a slugfest the last time they met, and earned a draw, but each is training faithfully, and guarantees to slam the other with everything but the water bucket. Other preliminaries are being arranged, and it is probable that a battle royal will also be on the card. The bouts will start at 7:30 sharp. Reserved seats are $1, general admission, first come first served, 75c, 50c and 25c. Ladies will be admitted for half price on the $1, 75c and 50c tickets, and the Legion extends to them a special invitation to attend. Following the fights a dance will be given in the Wadsworth hall, the music to be furnished by Earl Bleak's orchestra. |
