Show Farmer of Year selected in Duchesne Jay Abbott of Duchesne has been chosen as the 1975 Farmer of the Year by the Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District according to Charles Crozier chairman of the JA JAY Y IS a progressive hard hardworking hardworking hardworking working young man with acres of irrigated land and 1000 acres of rangeland The irrigated land is along the Duchesne River east of Duchesne He milks 40 head of dairy cattle in his grads grade A dairy and runs 70 head of beef cattle on his farm and range HE liE IS a conservation farmer and has doubled production on part of his farm with conservation practices Irrigation water management has been achieved by leveling and installing on the irrigated land that needed it He knows the value of timeliness of operation o on the farm and wise use of fertilizers Jay will be honored at a banquet later this year and receive a plaque from the Goodyear Tire Company for this recognition During spare time this year Jay has taken flying lessons and now has his private pilot license |
