Show USU's second semester of summer quarter to begin Now is the perfect time to take that class you have been wanting to take and USU Education Center has planned plann-ed seven classes with you in mind. Second Se-cond quarter of summer session will begin July 25 with Art 310, Art Methods for the Elementary Grades. This course is designed for those enrolled in Elementary Education and for mothers who want to share the world of art with their children. Dr. Ray Hellberg will teach this class. He will teach various art processes, crafts, art history, and art appreciation in the elementary grades. It will start in Vernal Ver-nal and continue one week before moving mov-ing to Roosevelt for the second week. Joe Peterson, English instructor at USU Education Center, will teach Expository Ex-pository Writing 301 beginning July 27. This class will emphasize the theory, examples, and practice of general expository ex-pository writing. All upper division students who have completed their 200 level English course are encouraged to attend this class. It will begin at 8 p.m. on July 27 and run daily until the 29. It will also be held August 3-6, and the 10th, 11th, and 12th. It is a three credit hour class. Dr. Warren T. Burton, popular music professor from the USU campus in Logan will teach Music 350, Elementary Elemen-tary School Music for the classroom teacher. He will discuss the problems, methods, materials in singing, rhythms, creative musics, reading and listening. This fun and informative class is designed for anyone interested in learning more about directing music. It begins August 1 and will meet daily until August 6. Class will start at 5:30 p.m. Dr. David A. Medlyn, director of the USU Education Center, will teach Geology 101, a five credit hour class which will help fill the general education educa-tion requirement for USU graduation. This class will feature the geology of the Uintah Basin. Twenty-three of the Earth's formations lie exposed in the Uintah Basin. Several of these formations forma-tions will be visited during the field trip which will be held in conjunction-with conjunction-with this class. Geology 101 will be held August 3 and 4 at 5:30 p.m. 10,11, 12, 15, 16, and 17 at 1 p.m. and on the 22, 23, and 30 at 5:30 p.m. The field trip date will be decided during class. Randy Merrill will teach Microbiology 111 August 15-19, 22-26, 29, Sept. 2, 5-9 at 5:30 p.m. This class fulfills part of the life science requirement require-ment set for graduation. It will discuss biology and the role of microbiology in tne natural process. A microbiology lab will be held in conjunction with the class. Criminology 342 will be taught by Dr. Glen Shirk of the Logan campus. It will begin August 22 and continue until the 27 at 1 p.m. This teacher will discuss the sociological analysis of the primary problems in the United States. Characteristics and causes in the criminal as well as social and legal reaction. Dr. Nile Meservy will teach Social Work 415 and will discuss working with the individual in skills and exercises to help the student to acquire a basic undestanding of social work.
