Show Chamber Week proclaimed by County The Uintah County Commission has proclaimed this week, Feb. 21 to 26, as Chamber of Commerce Week in Uintah County. "Recognizing that the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce is an organization organiza-tion dedicated to improving the quality of life in Uintah County and the State of Utah and recognizing that the citizens of Uintah County benefit from the many activities ac-tivities and programs carried out by the Chamber through its volunteer manpower, man-power, we hereby proclaim. ..Chamber Week in Uintah County," the proclamation proclama-tion stated under the signature of Neal Domgaard, chairman of the commission. Chamber Week was kicked off Tuesday Tues-day noon with a "promote free enter-prize" enter-prize" talk at the Chamber director's luncheon meeting by Doris Taggaret, P from Zions Bank, Salt Lake City. Ms. Taggaret stressed that surveys of young students show an astounding lack of knowledge about the free enterprise system. Young people are even anti- business, she pointed out. Taggaret told of a Junior Achievement Program where students take a course in business management and get firsthand first-hand information from business people. "We should also organize a program to take the business story into the schools to educate the youth of the benefits of the free enterprise system, she concluded. Other events during Chamber Week wUl be an open house Friday from 10 a.m. untU 4 p.m. at the Chamber office, 1st East and Main, with cookies and punch and informational presentations on chamber work. On Thursday, Chamber members will man radio station KVEL from 6 a.m. until un-til 4 p.m. During this time over 40 prizes will be given away to those able to answer questions concerning the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. KVEL will also host an open house of its own Thursday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. showng off its newly remodeled and expanded ex-panded facilities. |
