The runner was safe, but the throw got by the first baseman and the runners advanced one base," stated . Union coach Brent Fieldsted. "Lonnie Sammaripa was walked intentionally to load up the bases. Brett Cramer hit the ball in the hole between second and short and the shortstop couldn't find the third base bag for the force. Hadlock scored to tie up the game at 4-4 and Trowbridge beat the shortstop to third base." Fieldsted added, "Kenny Anderton singled into right field and Trowbridge and Sammaripa scored to give Union a 6-4 lead. The throw at the plate was high as Carbon attempted to get Sammaripa Sam-maripa at home plate. The catcher got the ball and tried to get Cramer at , third base, but the ball went into left field. Cramer scored to increase the Union lead to three runs at 7-4. Carbon had one hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, but they were shutout in their half of the inning." Union scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut Carbon's lead to one run at 4-3. |
