Show Local youth named Cub Scout of Year Kasey Chipman Peisley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Peisley of Vernal, has been Cub Scout of the Year for the District. Kasey is only nine years old and is a fourth grader at Naples Elementary. To be eligible for the honor, the nominee had to be a registered Cub Scout. He could be a Wolf or Bear Cub Scour or Webelos Scout. He had to be an active member of his pack. He couldn't have reached his 11th birthday birth-day by March 1, 1984. He had to demonstrate outstanding citizenship in his religious activities (or beliefs), his school, Cub Scouting and community, i.e., participate in a community wide service project, sports, active in his religious activities, school and other groups. The candidate had to have demonstrated that he strives to live up :o the ideals of Cub Scouting, be able .o express himself effectively, and be v : : V n-x r j I Kasey Peisley personable in appearance. Kasey's current den mother is Lynn Eve Wilkins. She said she enjoys and admires him for the fine young man that he is as well as the great Scout that he now is and will continue to be. Kasey's third grade school teacher and principal listed a few of Kasey's personal qualities as being honest, having respect for his property and others. He has a positive attitude toward work. He is friendly and gets along with his classmates as well as adults. They said Kasey completes his assignments on time and is usually the first to do so. He has an overall 94 percent per-cent average. He has been on the honor roll indicating excellent academic work. He shows leadership abilities not only in the classroom but in sports and extracurricular projects as well. Quoting a letter of recommendation written for Kasey by his LDS primary president she says, "Kasey Peisley is an outstanding Cub Scouter and individual. in-dividual. He truly loves Cub Scouting and under his own motivation he really excells. Under his own direction and not that of his family or den. he has accomplished ac-complished many goals he has set for himself. He's a reverent and attentive member of primary." According to Nels Davidson, Kasey's former LDS bishop, he has never known a young man to put his whole heart into everything as Kasey does. Enthusiasm should be his middle mid-dle name because that is how he tackles anything he wants to accomplish. ac-complish. Kasey has great perserverance and a positive attitude which makes him a quick learner. Everything he does he can do well and ends up showing others the way. Kasey works in his dad's shop and likes to learn what each tool does and why. Kasey accepts responsibility and follows through. He also helps younger children and accepts criticism gracefully. His mother says Kasey is happy with life. He likes people and just loves to live. He feels nothing is too hard, some things just take longer to accomplish. Kasey has been involved in several service projects such as the litter drive (local community clean up), Pennys by the Inch (donations for the Children's Hospital), fund raising projects pro-jects for school activities and participating par-ticipating in the Lions Club annual Bike-a-thon. He is on the Naples soccer team, city ci-ty league basketball and placed first in the July 4 Bike-a-thon sponsored by the Lions Club. Kasey is a part of Pack No. 228. His Cubmaster is Daniel Hales. |
