Show let's go to the movies! j Cinematic " f ; 1 Sentiments ' I Hy Dr. Allen Hasson "MONTY PYTHON'S THE MEANING OF LIFE" () (U'U'-l, Ch-1, OC-1, Sk-2 in Rating Guide) MOCKERY OF BOTH THE GOOD AND THE BAD ... THAT AIN'T FUNNY We admit we are not a Monty Python fan (and we think we have a sense of humor), but to this reviewer, "Monty Python's the Meaning of Life'' is one of the most offensive films we've seen in a long time. Like "Eating Raoul", it makes it point, all right does it ever! But we can do without the point, if we have to get grossed out to the point of no return! Both of these films are saying that mankind is so totally calloused, nothing bothers us. But you know what? You have to be totally calloused to sit through one of these films! So in a way, they're right! "NOW AND FOREVER" () (WW-2, Ch-1, OC-2, Sk-3 in Rating Guide) MEANS WELL, BUT DRAINS YOU, AND GIVES LITTLE IX RETURX As a great film critic said in a review of "Eddie Macon's Run", "Personally, we for one (sorry about that) have had it up to our (thank you, Mr. President) with these bleeding-heart, wrongfully-accused wrongfully-accused criminal stories! Our heart bleeds for the victims of crime millions of them more than for the handful of Eddie Maeons." There is a good title song by "Air Supply", Supp-ly", and fairly mild content for an "R" film, except for a graphic seduction scene in the beginning, and a little strong profanity. |
