Show Suspect, 20, waives hearing right A 20-year-old Vernal man waived his right Wednesday to a preliminary hearing hear-ing in 7th Circuit Court on a second-degree second-degree felony charge of burglary of a non-dwelling. Judge Whitney D. Hammond ordered Ricky Dean Richmond to appear for arraignment ar-raignment on the charge Jan. 11 in 7th District Court. A complaint signed by Vernal police Detective Dave Free accuses ac-cuses Richmond of breaking into the residence of Earl Withie, Vernal, Oct. 30. A watch taken from the residence was recovered, though a theft charge was not filed against Richmond. Richmond was released on his own recognizance after his arrest Dec. 30. He pleaded guilty in circuit court Wednesday to a class B misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief at the Vernal Ver-nal Mine Co. restaurant, 855 West Main, in November. Police charged Richmond originally with burglary of a non-dwelling non-dwelling in the incident, a third-degree felony. Judge Hammond gave Richmond a $150 fine and a 10-day jail sentence suspended upon payment of the fine in connection with Richmond's guilty plea to the misdemeanor charge. |
