Ander- i, j son said the board is obligated to of- j fer Airlink the same kind of agree- ( i' ment as it did to Sky West Airlines of j ( St. George, Utah. Acording to that ',' I1 agreement, Sky West pays landing j fees equivalent to $.12 a pound and a ji 'i monthly rent for terminal space of i1 about $410, figured at about $9 a (! ( square foot. 10 percent interest V 'i The board also wants 10 percent in- ) i1 terest on Airlink's back payments. S I Airlink, based in Denver, suspend- ( j ed its service from Denver to Vernal ' i last month with plans to resume three i ' i' flights a day service Jan. 15 with 'I larger and faster turbo-prop aircraft. j Sky West flies the same aircraft, the i i Fairchild Industries Metroliner, on i five flights a day to and from Salt ' II Lake City and Vernal. ji Decker said service was suspend- ( ed because of mechanical problems with the airline's older, eight-seat i1 , 1 propellor-driven aircraft, and to allow ( ' Airlink to "gear up" for its Metroliner J i service. The airline has invested 1 1 heavily in aircraft during the past 'i half year with the purchase of three Metroliners in addition to a commit- 1 1 ment with Frontier Airlines to buy j i three older and bigger Convair 580 i1 aircraft, which Frontier used for its (i Vernal service. Expects increased loads ' Airlink switched plans for j' upgrading Vernal service from i i Metroliners to the Convair 580s and S then switched back to the ' ' Metroliners. Airlink will keep its com- ( mitment for the older plane, accor- i S ding to Decker, since it fits in with the (' (' airline's long-term expectations of in- 1 (, creased passenger loads. i' 1 1 Sky West and Airlink decided to enter the Vernal market after Fron- t' tier ended service last winter. ji |
