Show Weekly crop weather summary Another week of scattered showers and cool temperatures limited farm activity. ! An average of only 3.7 days were suitable i for field work, according to the Utali j Crop and Lifestock Reporting Service. Inspite of the weather, some progress was made in spring planting. Spring wheat and barley were one-third seeded, and onions passed the three-quarter mark. Progress is still behind normal, but a few warm days should catch things up. Hopes remain high for the fruit crop. So far, apricots have suffered a 20 to 25 percent frost lost, but other fruits are unhurt. Again, warm weather is needed so pollination can proceed. Alfalfa and winter wheat have just begun to show signs of spring growth. Statewide, the crop averages about 4 inches in-ches in height. Both surface moisture and deep moisture are plentiful this year, so growth should be good as soon as temperature rise. |
