Show Republicans met to organize The Uintah County Republican Party Par-ty Organizing Convention was at the Uintah County Courthouse in Vernal Wednesday night. Since this is a non-election year the convention was rather low-key All officers of-ficers w!ere retained to continue in their positions by vote of the Republicans present. Dr. Dan Price will continue as Uintah Uin-tah County Republican Party Chairman, Chair-man, Kathy Jones as Vice-Chairwoman, Vice-Chairwoman, Kathlene McKeachnie as Secretary, and Bob Foley as Treasurer. The three state committee members are Lillian Henderson, D. Roger Hacking, and Gary Taylor. Lillian Henderson was the convention conven-tion chairwoman and Bob Foley gave a financial report, Lola Anderson gave a credential report, and Ken Aycock presented the rules committee report. There were several visitors from the State Republican Committee present at the convention. Lois Pickett is presi-"dent presi-"dent of the Womens Republican Federation Club, Cathy Arentz and Charoneh Smith are candidates for vice-president of the State Republican Committee. Each spoke. U.S. Representative Howard Nielson was represented by Bill Arseneau, And Senator Orrin Hatch was represented by Greg McDonough. Dave Hansen, the executive director of the State Republican Committee was also present. A letter was read from Senator Jake Garn, who apologized for not being able to attend. Kathlene McKeachnie said the meeting was mostly a matter of formalities for-malities in this non-election year. She said next year would be very different, especially since it is a presidential election year. Mrs. McKeachnie said the next function func-tion of the Republican Party will be the State Republican Convention, which will be held at Skyline High School June 25. All state delegates were elected last year, and serve for two years. They should all make plans to attend, Mrs. McKeachnie said. |
