Show Public input sought on Upland gameseasons The 1982 upland game seasons and regulations will be considered and approved by the Wildlife Board, June 23, at 10 a.m. in the Wildlife Resources auditorium in Salt Lake City. The public is invited to attend the meeting and comment on the proposed seasons. The mourning dove and band-tailed pigeon seasons will also be considered by the Wildlife Board. Upland game includes sage grouse, forest grouse, chukar partridge, Hungarian partridge, pheasant, quail, cottontail rabbit, snowshoe hare, wild turkey, sharp-tailed grouse and white-tailed white-tailed ptarmigan. Utah's first white-tailed ptarmigan season is being proposed for Summit County and the Uinta River drainage of Duchesne County from Sept. 11 through Oct. 13. Ptarmigan, an exotic grouse species in Utah, were first introduced into the state in 1976. Due to chukar transplant programs, parts of Juab, Utah and Salt Lake counties will be recommended closed to chukar hunting and Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett counties are being recommended to remain closed. It is proposed that Tooele and Millard counties and that portion of Duchesne County south of Highway 40 be closed to sage grouse hunting. The Board will consider proposals to increase the bag limit on mourning doves and close the LaSal Mountains to the fall turkey hunt. The public may submit written comments about the proposed seasons until June 22 to the Wildlife Board, c-o Division of Wildlife Resources, 15 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City, 84116. |
