Show Officers agree to ignore group's pasture parley Except in the case of violence or serious crime, law enforcement officials in and around Council, Idaho, plan to allow an Independence Day gathering in a pasture near there by a back-to-nature group that shuns liquor and hard drugs but allows marijuana use. Already gathered at the site are 100 members of the group, Rainbow Family, described as a spiritual group stressing harmony with nature. Some members of the group have discussed the gathering with local law enforcement and U.S. Forest Service officials. The supervisor of the Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana said there were no problems when 6,000 to 7,000 members of the group gathered there in 1976. The organizers will be required to return the area to its original condition, including reseeding if necessary. |
