Show Energy office offers grants The Utah Energy Office is offering $60,000 in grants to communities that show a commitment to energy conservation con-servation and the development of renewable resources. A $15,000 grant will be awarded to each of four Utah communities under the Community Energy Grant Program. The funding will be used to develop a partnership between the public, local government, civic groups, business and state government to initiate and develop successful energy programs at the local level. The Comunity Energy Grant Program is administered by the Utah Energy Office under the Energy Extension Ex-tension Service. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. "The solutions to using energy more efficiently need to be found within individual in-dividual communities.- The grants will help begin that process," said Craig Hibberd, Energy Extension Service Manager. Existing non-profit community organizations, new non-profit community com-munity organizations formed for this grant, city, town and county governments govern-ments are all eligible to apply for the grant. The Utah Energy Office will conduct a grant workshop which will specifically describe the grant, identify community energy issues, look at how other communities are solving their energy problems and show how to develop community involvement. Workshops will be Thursday, June 11, in Richfield, and Friday, June 12, in Salt Lake City. The workshops will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
