Show Ten orchestra students of the month announced for May Ten Vernal Youth Orchestra students earned Student of the Month honors during the year's final play-off on May 18. Violin students achieveing Student of the Month status were: Sara Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Brown of Jensen. Sara is a third grade student at Naples Elementary. Alyssa Fountaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fountaine is a third grade student at Ashley Elementary. Eva Harrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harrison, is a fifth grade student at Ashley Elementary. David Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jensen is a fourth grade student at Naples Elementary. Lilli May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Curtis May is a fourth grade student at Maeser. Rick May, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis May is a sixth grade student at Maeser. Tracy Spidle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Agee Spidle is a seventh grade student at Vernal Junior High School. Viola Student of the Month was Deena McDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith McDonald. Deena is a 6th grade student at Maeser. Cello students achieving Student of the Month were Erik Burfitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Burfitt. Erik is a third grade student at Maeser. Byron Colton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Colton, is a 4th grade student at Maeser. May practice awards went to Cory Hackford in Orchestra I and to Kyle Cox in Orchestra II. Both orchestras, together with six parents, two teachers, traveled to Salt Lake City on May 16 to tour Symphony Hall and to attend the spring concert of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony. Orchestra members will study privately with trained teachers for the summer. The Vernal Youth Orchestra Program will resume in September for its 1981-82 season. |
