Show Groundbreaking set for new Development Center in Roosevelt Groundbreaking ceremonies signaling the start of the new Dina Enterprises Development Center building will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the west side of the Uintah Basin Vocational Center in Roosevelt. After two bid openings that each far exceeded the building budget a new plan to use Vocational Center students under a management plan with no general contractor has been approved by the state building board, according to Les Rennett, director of the sheltered workshop. The building budget amounts to $192,457 and we expect to be able to build the new 4500 square foot building for under $165,000 with the new plan, said Bennett. The construction will be supervised by G & J Construction Managers of Ogden. The new structure will be able to house 60 students and will be located directly west of the present Vocational Center building. The new building will be approximately 50 by 90 feet and the outside brick will match that of the Vocational Center. The sheltered workshop is presently temporarily housed in the Vocational Center. Speakers at the groundbreaking will include Marlin Johnson, UB Vocational Center director. Dirk Evertsen, rehabilitation director and Tom Ab-planalp. Ab-planalp. former Duchesne School Superintendent. |
