Show Jon AAauss captures 10th place in Price Jon Mauss captured tenth place in the 16th Annual An-nual Black Diamond Open at the Carbon County Coun-ty Golf Course in Price. Vernal's golf pro at the Dinaland Golf Course, Mauss, had a two-day total of 147. He fired rounds of 72 and 75. Dave Shipley of Ogden nabbed top honors in the tourney with a 136 score. He fired rounds of 68 both days. Shipley edged Rusty Rus-ty Guernsey of Salt Lake City by one stroke. Guernsey fired a 66 in the first round and Price pro, Bob Droz was in second place at 67. Shipley's 68 put him two shots behind going into the final round. However, Guernsey encountered en-countered problems in the second round and finished with a 71. Shipley posted another round of 68 to win the tourney. Tommy Williams of Ogden placed third. Bob Droz, John Evans, Lynn Landgren and Brad Stone tied for fourth place at 144. Kean Ridd placed eighth and Mike Malaska nabbed ninth place. The Men's Club Championship is set for September 15 and 16 at the Dinaland Golf Course in Vernal. Eighteen holes of golf will be played each day. Ed Gudac is the defending champion. Gudac won the 1978 title with a two-day score of 145. |
