Show -.DUGHESNE Mrs. Bert Salter and two sons, former residents of Duchesne called call-ed on Mrs. Chas. Barton on their way home to Los Angeles. They have been in. Meeker, Colorado to be present at funeral services for Mr. Salters father. Mr. Salter and Mr. Walt O'Toole installed the first plumbing in Duchesne. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Herrick and Mr. Joe Danner have gone to Salt Lake City for a short visit. Mr. Joe Shanks from Utahn reports re-ports receiving a letter from Mrs. Shanks, who is a nurse at the girls' Collegiate College at Glen-dora, Glen-dora, California. She states things look more promising there than for the last five years. Miss. Novella Lawson and Mr. Dale Ivie formerly of Duchesne, were united in marriage Monday, Oct. 2, 1933. . We wish them happiness and success in the future. Mrs. Geo. S. Eowers left Thursday, Thurs-day, for an indefinite stay with relatives at Rocky Ford, Colorado. Mrs. Bowers is one of the first pioneers of the community, and will be greatly missed In Duchesne. 3 Rodney Remington of Bluebell was a business visitor in Duchesne Thursday. i " Sheriff Arzy H. Mitchell made a trip to Salt Lake City on official offic-ial business Thursday. He took the prisoner, Jay Lewis, who is . held here on a Grand Larceny charge, to the County Jail in Salt Lake, where he will be lodged until un-til the time for trial. Mrs. M. Verona Winkler and Mrs. Frank Smith of Bluebell were calling on friends " in Duchesne Tuesday. The county commissioners held their . regular meeting Tuesday. A large delegation from several of the upper country towns met with the commissioners in regard to the location of the state road between Neola and Altonah. Bill Gardner of Neola was transacting tran-sacting business in town Tuesday. William H. Gagon, Deputy Assessor As-sessor from Roosevelt spent Tuesday Tues-day in Duchesne on official matters. matt-ers. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Smith, Mrs. Fern Moffitt, Mrs. Clytia Gunn and E. H. Peterson were Arcadia visitors Sunday in the interest of the Geneological work. J. M. Mlckelson left' for Salt Lake City Friday, where he will attend the L. D. S. Conference. Mrs. Mickelson, who has been in Salt Lake for some time visiting, will return home with him. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Peterson made a trip to Salt Lake City this week. They will attend the L. D. S. Conference while there. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Crocker and Mrs. Guy Hollenbeck were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Porter Wednesday evening. The American Legion Auxiliary, Duchesne Post No. 22, met at the home of Mrs. Ernest Crocker Tuesday Tues-day evening, October 3rd. Mrs. Hildur Johnstun, as a past president pres-ident installed the new officers of the unit. The officers for the coming year are: President, Mrs. Elizabeth Win-slow, Win-slow, Vice Pres., Mrs. Nellie Jones, Treas., Mrs. Nellie Jones, Chaplain, Chap-lain, Mrs. Henrietta Wilson, Ser- geant at Arms, Mrs. Hazel Orr, Historian, Mrs. Chloe Case, Sec, Mrs. Hildur Johnstun. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served and the meeting adjourned until the next regular meeting night, October 17th. C. W. Potter of Talmage was a Duchesne visitor Thursday. Bishop and Mrs. Rulon J. Larsen Lar-sen left for Salt Lake City Friday morning to attend the L. D. S. Conference. R. A. Murray of Bluebell was a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Goff Tuesday. Jack Barton, son of Mrs. Bessie Barton, is recovering from a severe sev-ere attack of the Influenza. Mr. and Mrs C. C. Mickelson entertained at a delightful chicken dinner Sunday. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. M. Iverson, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon A. Jones, Ezra Tobler and J. M. Mickelson. Ira B. Cannon, President of the School Board stopped in Duchesne Thursday, enroute to Salt Lake City, where he will meet with the Public Works Administrator in an effort to get a loan for building school buildings in Duchesne County. Coun-ty. Mr. Cannon will attend the L. D. S. Conference before returning return-ing home. |
