Show DUNE 11JIT DELEGATION Judge L. A. Hollenbeck has been nominated as the delegate repres.. enting the Uintah Basin for ratification ratif-ication of the 21st amendment, which repeals prohibition, to be voted on next November 7th. At the same election the prohibition amendment of the State is submitted sub-mitted directly to the vote of the people. Opposing Judge Hollenbeck, is State Senator, Hyrum Calder of Vernal, on the Prohibition delegation. dele-gation. It is quite a surprise to j many to find Mr. Calder on this side of the question, as he went through the campaign last fall on the State Democratic platform which has endorsed the national platform, coming out definitely for repeal. Though the question of repeal is by no means a party question It is rather unusual to find two staunch Democrats, both of whom had endorsed the party platform coming out on opposing sides of the question. v Both those for and against repeal re-peal are well organized, and are ready to start an intensive campaign. camp-aign. R. L. Olsen of Ogden is the Secretary of the Anti-Prohibition Forces of Utah, and it is expected that the County Chairman for Duchesne County will soon be an. nounced. |
