Show City Court. . . Appearing in City Court Sept. 14 was Robert J. Welch, who was charged with assault. as-sault. He entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to pay a $100 fine or to serve 20 davs in iail. with the iail sentence suspended on payment pay-ment of the fine. The same day the case of State vs. Robert D. Koontz, on charges of possession of a controlled substance, was heard. He entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to pay a $150 fine or serve 30 days in jail, with the jail sentence suspended on payment pay-ment of the fine. Also that day there was an arraignment in State vs. Jessie Jes-sie Ann Hickman and Timmy Wayne Sheets, who were charged with theft. They requested re-quested time to consult counsel coun-sel and appeared again the following day. Defendant Hickman had a preliminary hearing scheduled schedul-ed for Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. Defendant Sheets advised the court he was unemployed and unable to afford cousel, and requested the court appoint counsel for him. Judge Don Crist determined Sheets is indigent, and appointed Harry Snow to represent him. A preliminary hearing was then scheduled for Sheets on Fri., Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. On Sept. 20 in the case of City vs. Don G. Gilmore, City Attorney R.H. Ruggeri moved mov-ed to dismiss charges of drunk driving for lack of sufficient evidence. This motion was granted and the case was dismissed. Also Sept. 20 the case of City vs. Steven Paul Buck, also on drunk driving, was scheduled. Trial was at 2 p.m. and the defendant failed to appear for trial. The city attorney presented his evidence, evi-dence, and the court reached a verdict of guilty. A $250 fine was set, and Buck's $250 bail was forfeited to pay the fine. |
