First on the agenda, on Suturdny, Oct. 1, is the Miss Moab Diamond Jubilee contest sponsored by the Moab Jaycees. It will be held ut 8 p.m. in Star Hall. On Monday, Oct. 3 an all citizens breakfast will be held from 6 to 9 u.m. in the parking lot west of the Post Office. That evening at 8 p.m. a Pageant on incorporation will be held in Star Hall. This will be a historical presentation, and is being chaired by Ila Corbin. On Tuesday, Oct. 4 during the evening, a bicycle race will be held. Harold Jacobs is in charge of this event. Melodrama Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 5 7 a melodrama entitled "Curse You, Jack Dalton," will be presented by the Moab Community Theatre at 8 p.m. in Star Hall. Also on Wednesday the Moab Fire Protection District will stage a water fight at the new City Park at 7 p.m. Also on Thursday, there will be a live mini jogging race which is being planned by Ron Auger. And, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. the Middle School 8th grade Social Studies class will conduct a mock City Council meeting at City Hall. Jim Hamilton is in charge of this event. On Friday, Oct. 7, in addition to the melodrama, the Retail Merchants Committee Com-mittee is sponsoring a downtown merchants mer-chants Sidewalk Sale. Another community breakfast will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 from 7 to 9 a.m. at the new City Park. At 10 a.m. hang gliders from Salt Lake City will take off from the Moab Rim, behind Miller's shopping center. Parade Saturday will be the big day of the celebration, and a parade from Grand High School to the new City Park will take place at 2:30 p.m. Guest of honor will be Utah Governor Scott Matheson, who will be parade Grand Marshall. At 3:30 p.m. citizens are invited to meet the governor at the new City Park. Also there at that time will be games and races for all ages, under the direction of Harold Jacobs. Also featured will be a greased pole climb sponsored by the Jayceettes, with donated prizes from local merchants for those who get to the top. At 4 p.m. Gov. Matheson will dedicate the dam, which was constructed by the Slick Rock Project at the east end of Center Street. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the governor will meet with local public officials. Barbeque ,, At 5 p.m. a barbeque will be held at Lions Park, and the public is again invited to come and meet the governor. From 6 to 6:45 p.m. a Town Meeting will be held, and Gov. Matheson will be introduced by County Commission Chairman Leo Burr. Winding up the day will be a public dance at 8 p.m. at Lions Club Park. On Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. stock car races and motorcycle races will be held at the Red Rock Speedway. All week long, Monday through Sunday, Sun-day, everyone is being asked to wear western clothes or face their fate in Kangaroo Court, which will be conducted conduct-ed by Jaycees on Main Street. Another activity being held in connection connec-tion with the week-long celebration is a high school art poster contest advertising advertis-ing the Diamond Jubilee Week.
