Big Horn assessment being done by BLM The Bureau of Land Management's Man-agement's Moab District is preparing an environmental assessment for a proposed big horn sheep transplant on the public lands. According to Gene Day, Moab District Manager, Utah Davision of Wildlife Resources has proposed pro-posed transplants for four separate locations within the District. The transplant areas involved in the assessment are Westwater Canyon, San Rafael Swell between Virgin Springs and Cane Wash, San Rafael Reef and Elliott Mountain. Thirty bighorn sheep (24 females-6 males) would be released at each site. If sufficient suf-ficient animals are available the entire transplant would take place this fall. The alternative alter-native to this would be to plant twelve female and three male this fall, followed next fall with twelve female and three male. To aid us in our environmental environ-mental assessment we are soliciting public comments and concerns on the proposed transplant.
