Show Hanksville News Notes By Barbara Ekker Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Weber, Web-er, Bicknell, will be honored on their 50th wedding anniversary anni-versary Sat. Sept. 24th from 8 to midnight at the Thurber Ward Cultural Hall, Bicknell. Herb and Duella were married mar-ried Sept. 21st in Green River. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. Herb was born Sept. 20th 1904 in Hanksville and has been a livestock raiser, construction con-struction worker and for five years was a security guard at the Green River Missile Base. He has served in many church positions. Duella was born Jan. 19, 1910 in Torrey. She has been active in church activities serving in the MIA and Primary. Pri-mary. She is presently assistant assis-tant Librarian in Thurber Ward. They are the parents of six children, four living. They are La Creed of Robertson, Wyo; Harmond, Phoenix, Arizona; Franz of Lyman, Wyoming and Joyce (Mrs. Benn Tatter-shall) Tatter-shall) of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They have nine grandchildren and three great gTand children. Mrs. Sylvia Hill, mother of Mrs. Raelene Ekker, will note 30 years on September 15th with Mountain Bell Telephone in the Richfield and Monroe exchange. Sylvia began her service as the first night telephone operator oper-ator in Monroe and then transferred to the Richfield office in 1957 when the Monroe Mon-roe exchange was closed. Sylvia is married to W.L. Hill and they have five children. child-ren. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ekker, Dennis Ekker, Lewis Wilcox, John Johnson and son, John, Bud Hanni, and mining associates asso-ciates attended the open house of the Plateau Resources' Re-sources' new ore buying station sta-tion in Blanding, Sept. 12. According to Russ Voungdahl, president of Plateau Resources Re-sources Ltd of Jackson, Michigan, Mich-igan, this Blanding station is the first of several facility and equipment investments of the company which has been purchasing pur-chasing minerals in southeastern south-eastern Utah for the past 18 months and plans to expand operations into western Wyoming Wy-oming and Colorado. Former Hanksville Bishop and Mrs. Harvey Hemes Jackson Jack-son are announcing the forthcoming forth-coming marriage of their daughter. Ruth, to Kent Sellers, Sel-lers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle D. Sellers. They will bo united in marriage Friday, Sept. 23 at the Manti Temple and a reception will honor them that evening at the West Jordon Second Ward Cultural Hull. Dean F.kkor, president of the Hanksville Culinary Water Wat-er Company has filed with the State Engineer application HW-m (!5 1717) to appropriate appro-priate .30 see. feet of water in Wayno County. The water is to bo diverted from two existing wells as follows: (1)2 in. well, 332 feot deep at a point S 1H19 ft. and W 944 ft. and (2) fl'A In. well 330 (I. deep at a point S 177!) ft. and W I0M ft. Imth from NK Cor. Sec. 16, T2SS RUE and used from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 for municipal purposes within the cooperate limits of Hanksville town. Primary Ward Conference was held in Hanksville Sept. 14 with the Stake officers attending. Those ladies were Mrs. Millie Pace, Stake Primary Pri-mary President, Mrs. Arda Mae Morrell, 2nd Council, Mrs. Susan Ellett. Stake in service leader, and Mrs. Judy Durfy. Stake secretary. Jilrs. RaeLene Ekker conducted the conference as President of the Hanksville Primary. Hanksville Hanks-ville officers present were Mrs. Becky Dasn, 1st Councilor. Council-or. Mrs. Sh&rlet Wells, 2nd counselor, Mrs. Sharon Lusk-o, Lusk-o, Music and inservice director, direct-or, Mrs. Ardell Noyes Blazer, teacher, Mrs. Carene Ekker, Merry Miss leader, Mrs. Catherine Cath-erine Grundy, Sunbeam teacher, and Mrs. Bertha Robinson, Rob-inson, Targeteers leader. There were 56 children in attendance. Dean Ekker and La Vor Wells have begun Wayne Air Inc. at the Hanksville Airport and have installed a fuel tank making 100 octane airplane fuel available soon to pilots in this area. They have met with Mr. Phillip Ashbaker, assistant assis-tant to the State Aeronautical Board, and hope soon to have other improvements at the Hanksville Airport five miles north of town. The Mulford Family Reunion Reun-ion was held Saturday at Capitol Reef National Park and those attending from this area were; Butch and Margaret Margar-et Bullard and two children, Steve and Connie Rasmussen and two children, Craig and Carol Snow and daughter. Miles and Rita Jeppson and Mavor and Thelma Gate house. I.aVar and Susan Wells flew from Grand Junction by commercial lines to Kentucky this week where I.sVar purchased pur-chased a drilling rig and they will drive it back to Utah. IVar has a drilling company headquartered here in Hnnks-ville Hnnks-ville and has drilled numerous uranium deposits as well as water deposits. Ms. Lucille Prat and her 77 year old mother, llelone, from Illinois stopped and visited the Jess F.kkor Wednesday rnroute back to Moah from a tour of Hryce and 7.ion Nation al Parks. They make Utah their vacation spot every year and headquarter in the Moab area.
