Writer's workshop set for Moab The public is invited to attend a free workshop scheduled sched-uled Saturday, November 12 at Grand County High School, Room 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. where all phases of writing such as fiction, articles, poetry, poet-ry, humorous pieces and money mon-ey making opportunities will be discussed. Workshop leaders are Clarence Clar-ence P. Socwell, Cora H. Arnold, Frances L. Peterson and Helen Mar Cook. Mr. Socwell is past president of the League of Utah Writers and Poet of the Year for 1977. His collection of poetry, "Intrinsic "In-trinsic Tapestries' has just been published. He is also a prize-winning playwright and a free lance writer having published both fiction and non-fiction in various magazines maga-zines as well as winning awards in all areas of writing. Mrs. Cook is Advisory President Pres-ident of the Utah State Poetry Society, was named Utah Poet of the Year for 1975 with her book, "Shape of Flight.' She has won numerous contests con-tests as well as published poetry in various anthologies throughout the country. Cora H. Arnold is the president of the Utah State Poetry Society and has published pub-lished both prose and poetry. She will discuss, "How to Get Started in Writing.' Frances Peterson is President Presi-dent of the Salt Lake City Chapter of the League of Utah Writers. She recently received receiv-ed a first prize award for her book of philosophy and humor, hum-or, "I'm Somebody and You Better Beheve IT." She has also published short non-fiction pieces. This workshop is co-sponsored by the Utah State Poetry Society, Inc. and the League of Utah Writers under the auspices of the Institute of Fine Arts. |
