Show District Court Session Held Here on Tuesday The District Court for Grand County was in session Tuesday, Tues-day, June 8, for the regular Law and Motion Day with Judge Edward Sheya presiding. presid-ing. Dennis Hotz appeared, with his attorney, for sentencing after he pled guilty to a felony charge. The defendant had previously requested a presen-tencing presen-tencing report from Adult Probation and Parole Department. Depart-ment. Judge Sheya stated that he had read and duly considered the report, and in view of the defendant's record, sentenced him to serve the statutory term of not to exceed 5 years in Utah State Prison and designated the sheriff of Grand County to deliver the defendant to the warden or other proper officer of the state prison for execution of the sentence. Randy Bell appeared for sentencing after his plea of guilty to a charge of possession posses-sion of marijuana. Judge Sheya sentenced him to pay a fine in the sum of $500 and to serve 60 days in Grand County jail on such days as he is not working. The judge further placed the defendant under the supervision of the Probation Proba-tion and Parole Department for a period of 3 years and ordered that he comply with all of the terms and provisions set forth in the probation agreement. agree-ment. In the State vs. Robert Anthony Miera, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to a charge of aggravated assault. The judge ordered that he be placed with the Board of Corrections at the state prison for a period of 90 days for evaluation. In the State of Utah vs. Max Woodward, the defendant pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, which is a misdemeanor. The court sentenced Woodward to pay a fine in the sum of $200 and to serve 60 days in the Grand County jail. The jail sentence was suspended and the defendant defen-dant was placed on probation for 3 years on condition that he pay $100 of the fine immediately immediat-ely and the balance thereof within, 90 days,, and that he carry out all of the terms and conditions contained in the probation agreement. Robert Hotz pled guilty to the charge of distributing a controlled substance without value. Upon request of defense de-fense counsel, which was concurred in by the state, the court ordered a presentencing report and set date of sentencing for July 12 which is the next Law and Motion Day in the county. The court disposed of the following probate matters on the calendar: granted the final account and petition for distribution in the estate of Terry Arthur Graham; admitted admit-ted the will of Willis Hansen to probate; granted Letters of Administration in the estate of Aaron Peter Mohr, deceased; admitted the will of Edna Belle Lile to probate. |
