Show - Bicentennial Events Set For Arches Canyonlands Superintendent Superinten-dent Pete Parry announced that this coming weekend Arches National Park will be humming with bicentennial activity. Three bicentennial groups from Salt Lake City will be performing at Arches and Moab City Park. The Utah Poetry Society, Benschmark West group takes poetry out of the white-tie- and-tails era and places it squarely in the middle of today. Using combination of stories and Readers' Theater, the group performs poetry rather than reads it. Benschmark Bensch-mark West will perform many selections by Utah's own poets. Benschmark West will perform in one-half hour sessions at the Arches Visitor Center at 6 p.m. on June 12 and June 13 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Capitol English Brass Band is in the best tradition of our Mother country. The band plays music ranging from - serious symphonic works to ( difficult English marches and i on occasion, rag and jazz. Over 250 selections are in the repertory of the unusual 20-piece band. This highly acclaimed band will engage in only two performances while ' they are in the area. Saturday afternoon. June 12. at 4 p.m. they will be playing at (he Moab City Park. Sunday. June 13. at 10 a.m. they will be playing at the Arches National Park Visitor Center. Six Ririe-Woodbury Dancers from the Riric-Woodbury Company will lend their talents to park visitors for performances that will delight those of all ages. The creative process will unfold before the aduience as these nationally-acclaimed nationally-acclaimed dancer interpret some of life's situations. Double Arch, 12 miles from the' Park entrance, in the Windows Section, will be the setting for all three performances. perfor-mances.
