Show Capitol Reef Travel Double Last Year Superintendent W. Franklin Wallace of Capitol Reef National Park announced today to-day that 70,240 visitors were recorded for the month of May. This compared with 33,400 May last year. The total visitation for the period January 1 to May 31 was 132.865 eomnarpH tr, E v 62,311 for the same period last year or an increase of 112 percent. Campground use continues to be extremely heavy with 4, 827 campers using the campground during the month of May. Visitors are reminded that the campgrounds are on a first come basis and reservations are not accepted. Some problems prob-lems with visitors holding campsites for late arriving friends have developed, this would be considered reserving campsites. Superintendent Wallace would like to remind the visiting public that extensive damage to the fragile terrain by vehicles driving off the maintained roads in increasing. increas-ing.
