Show Granite School District Group Coming to Moab Between 40 and 50 teachers tea-chers from the Granite School District, the largset district in the state, are to be in Moab beginning on Wednesday for three days of environmental education workshops sponsored by the Grand County Environmental Environ-mental Advisory Committee. Superintendent of the district, Jim Lawrence will !be with the group which spent Tuesday in a trip across the San Rafael Swell. Also accompanying them will be professors of geography geo-graphy and geology from the University of Utah. While here, they will tour BLM lands in the Yellow Yel-low Cat and Thompson areas ar-eas with Marvin Jen5en and Lee Wansguard conducting con-ducting the tour. They will also spend some tims examining ex-amining the Environmental Environmen-tal Study Area set up t Helen M. Knight Eleme.i-Itary Eleme.i-Itary School by Lou Hetzvl and others. On Thursday, the group wilS travel to Warner Campground on the LaSal Mountains where they will participate in an Environmental Environ-mental Workshop conducted conduct-ed by Jerry Hofer, forester in Moab1. On Friday, the teacher? will be hosted by the Na- tional Park Service where they will be conducted mi a tour of the Environmental Environmen-tal Study Area at the Wolfe Cabin in Arches National Na-tional Monument. David May, who is the assistant chief of interpretation will conduct the tour which also al-so will include a trip to Delicate Arch. As a final highlight of their trip, they will take a tour on Canyonlands By Night. |
