Show Meteor May Have Fallen In Vicinity of Moab A report this week from the Tiara Observatory in Colorado Springs, Colo, indicated that a meteor may have fallen in the Moab area last Sunday evening, January 7. Terry Schmidt, director direc-tor of the observatory, told The Times Monday that reports from the Denver area placed the meteor over that city about 6:42 p.m. on Sunday. Sun-day. He asked that anyone any-one in the Moab area who may have seen the meteor notify either The Times or the observatory observat-ory as soon as possible. Mr. Schmidt stated that ne is interested in finding find-ing out the following information in-formation concerning the meteor: approximate direction of the flight, direction of disappearance, disappear-ance, altitude above the "onzon at disappearance, disappear-ance, brightness of the meteor compared to an object, and whether any noise was heard at the lime object passed. A number of newspapers newspap-ers and other agencies in the Four Corners area have been contacted regarding re-garding the sighting. In the event that the path of the meteor is traced to this area, recovery rec-overy operations will be started as soon as possible, pos-sible, Mr. Schmidt said. Residents are asked to report any findings that may be pieces of the meteor. The pieces will appear black on the outside, out-side, according to Mr. Schmidt, and will have a fusion crust. They will be stony or of an iron-type material, depending on the type of the meteor. Information on the sighting may be sent to The Times or to Tiara Observatory, P.O.
