All indications are that the Moab' Chamber of Commerce may well hlvC a record crowd for the popular U jnnual Kaster weekend event. Safari Chairman Dee Tranter stated thit eight trail routes have been prepared for this year's participants, and leaders assigned to each. The trails ranse from extremely difficult to moderately easy, and all have one major ' thing in common: access into some of the most colorful backcountry in the w orld. .4 Good Selection Trails this year will include the tough Moab Rim, Kane Creek Canyon, Di-v Mesa, Gemini Bridges. Behind-the-RlVks, Onion Creek Top of the World, Porcupine Rim and Poison Spider Mesa. Detailed stories on each of the routes, along with pictures of the Safari, are scattered through inside pages of this edition, so participants can read about them before making their final selections. selec-tions. An added attraction this year w ill be the assignment to each of the eight trails of a CB Radio Channel, so that participants can discuss the high points of their trips with each other and trailbosses during the day. Other community attractions include 1 the annual Boy Scout Barbeque at Lions 5 Park on Friday night; the High School Rodeo, which will run both Friday and Saturday nights at 7 o'clock, and the annual Easter Sunrise Service in Arches National Park Sunday morning. . ,- Pre-Registration Registration for the Safari will take I place all day Friday, and Saturday morning at the Chamber of Commerce visitor Center, and the final details will be discussed following the 7 a.m. Lions Club ftjj. Safari Breakfast Saturday at Lions Park. C(j Line-up of Safari groups behind each of Jf the eight leaders will take place in tfw downtown Moab at 8:30 a.m.. and the ill j--tours will depart Moab promptly at9 a.m. ( V The Boy Scout Barbeque Friday Ifll'i -night will see food lines forming at 6 p.m. 5 A-A delicious menu of roast beef, baked 1 beans, salad, rolls, root beer and coffee, with an optional fish dinner for those who prefer, will be served to an expected N thousand people. Townspeople have been invited, in particular, to attend the : barbeque and get acquainted with the ) thousand or so Jeep Safari visitors who will.be there. It is being , prepared under the direction of veteran Boy Scout chef, Gene Cary. The Lions Club will be hosting the traditional Saturday morning breakfast, cooked and served ranch style.
