Show jjSnf Bullock Struck it Rich In Mystery Personality Search Brcnt Bullock struck it rich this w eek hen his cntry waS drawn the fimcs-lndepcndent Mystery Personality contest. He won $70 in Bonus Bucks by correctly identifying the Mystery Personalty Person-alty as Maxine Newell, and by listing all the clues. We had a bit of a problem regarding one clue this week, and that cue was Pioneer Family, which was hidden in the Golden Stake ad on the Mvstery Personality page. Since the word Family is regularly part of the ad, many leaders, including Brent, used only the ord Pioneer on their clue lists. A few listed Pioneer Family. After thinking it over, we decided that since this was a bit unfair to readers, it could be the better part of valor to allow the abbreviated clue and give the whole prize to Brent. And, we'll be more careful ibout that sort of thing from here on out. The prize now returns to the basic $10 in Bonus Bucks for the first entry drawn which correctly identifies the Mystery Personality, plus the $30 bonus for all the clues, and no more. Incidentally, quite a few entries listed more clues than the 13 which were in the paper this week. And again incidentally, a number of readers mistakenly identified Slim Mabery as the Mystery Personality of the' week. We didn't realize that the clue list did not tip off the sex of the Mystery Personality. Congratulations, Slim, how did the clue list fit, from the vantage point of the guy who should know? Here are the clues for the week and the ads they were hidden in: NPS, Canyonlands Auto Parts; Author, Apostrophe; Apos-trophe; former Times Staffer, Mode O'Day; local history buff, Miller's; born N.M., Family Budget; drives blue car, Gaither; Park Visitor Center, City Market; GS-4, City Market; has one daughter, Lucille's; Poodle owner, Hobbit Hole; likes gardening, Rim Rock Flowers & Gifts; antique collector, Horstmann's Wood Products; Pioneer family, Golden Stake Restaurant. |
