Show Drastic Changes in Living Standards Shown for Moab A report released recently by the Standard Rate and Data Service revealed some drastic changes in income, retail re-tail sales and population data for Grand County. The report indicated that in the decade between 1960 and 1970, the population of Grand County decreased from 6,800 to 6,700 for a loss of 1.5 per cent. However, income for the same period was up a great deal with the amount of spendable income per household raising from $5,665 in I960 compared with $11,-411 $11,-411 per household in 1970 for an increase of 101.4 per cent. Income in the County was broken aown into classifications classifica-tions and in the $0 to $2,999 group there were .8 per cent of the population; $3,000 to $4,999, 6.2 per cent; $5,000 to $7,999, 15.9 per cent; $8,000 to $9,999, 7.0 per cent; $10,-000 $10,-000 to $14,999. 38.4 per cent and over $15,000 per year, there were 31.? per cent. Retail sales, per household raised 44.3 per cent in the 10 year period from $4,065 in I960 to $5,866 in 1970. Individual Indiv-idual store types showed increases in-creases during this same period per-iod with food stores increasing increas-ing 491.9 per cent; drug stores stor-es showing a 25.5 per cent increase; in-crease; general merchandise was down 78.2 per cent; apparel ap-parel was up 362.2 per cent; automotive was up 57.6 per cent and service station business busi-ness was up 8.2 per cent. The number of automobiles in Grand County increased during the period, with 2,320 cars here in 1962 compared with 3,410 in 1970, an increase in-crease of 47.0 per cent. |
