Show Interact Travels To Blandina for Missile Shot Last week the Moab Interact Inter-act Club traveled to Blan-ding Blan-ding to watch the firing of two Pershing Missiles at the Black Mesa Test Site. The missiles were fired lo White Sands Test Site in New Mexico at 2 and 3 in the afternoon following a briefing by Murray Maughn, the Commander at Green River, about the Pershing and Athena missiles. The Interact club, a young men's organization sponsored sponsor-ed by the Moab Rotary Club, first toured a radar emplacement em-placement that tracks the missiles and then procedtd to the bleachers which had been set up for them by the Army. From these bleachers which were located about a mile from the launchers, an excellent view of the actual firing was possible. These firings are for thn primary purpose of instructing in-structing troops in the use and operation of the missiles. Troops training in this program pro-gram are based at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. |
