Show net a one-sided issue As is indicated by our Letters to the Editor column, the issue of fluoridation of culinary water in Moab is not onesided one-sided at all. Both proponents of the measure and opponents have voiced their opinions cn the subject, and this Thursday a second public meeting has been called at Star Hall, this on to d:scuss the advantnges of fluoridation, as opposed to last week's meeting, where up-state representatives sought to discourage local residents from going along with the City's current plans. It has become quite cbvious in the past few weeks that - Moab residents, by and large, are not going to take claims of fluoride supporters at face value, but are going to seek facts to back ud claims. But neither are they goin" to b greatly swayed by purely "scare" tactics of some who would oppose the issue with considerable emotion and little reason If the debate during the next few weeks can be conducted rationally and factually by those involved, it is our feelin" that the community will be better informed, more a part of self-government than they were before. If decisions, however, are made on the basis of emotionalism, emotion-alism, fear or negativism based on lack of knowledge then we fear the outcome. ' |
