Show August Was Big For Frontier Frontier Airlines' net profit pro-fit of $1,079,000 in August resulted re-sulted from record breaking passenger traffic handled by the carrier during the month. Operating revenue of $8,791, 000 was a gain of 23 per cent over the $7,122,000 operating revenue of August last year. Passenger revenue alone contributed con-tributed $7,283,000 of this August Aug-ust total. Operating expense of $7,3C8,0C0 was an increase of only 7 per cent over the $6,838,000 operating expense for the month a year ago. This resulted in an operating profit of $1,483,000 this August. Aug-ust. Frontier's improved financial finan-cial showing in August was the result of flying 103,600,000 revenue passenger miles during dur-ing the month. This was an 11 per cent increase over the 93,060,000 revenue passenger miles flown in August last year. This record was estao-lished estao-lished with only an 8 per cent increase in available seat miles which totaled 191, 045,000 in August. Affecting Frontier's Airlines' Air-lines' August passenger traffic traf-fic were several factors: the ' strike during the first half of August of a competiive airline, air-line, a strong traffic growth trend as compared to previous previ-ous summer months this year and Labor Day falling on September 1, which caused caus-ed an increase in homeward bound vacation travel and the movement of college studems during the last week of August. |
