Show C of C Discusses Changes In State Park Designation State Park standards and designation was a subject discussed by the State Paik ,and Recreation Board tins week according to an announcement an-nouncement made by local ,member E. J. Claus. Claus told Chamber of Commerce members Tuesday Tues-day that officials from the (State Parks and Recreation office in Salt Lake toured some 15 state parks in Utah -the past few days to familiarize famil-iarize the new director with ,the areas. The officials discussed the .possibilities of changing the names cf some of the Stare Parks to State Scenic Areas until they reacred certain standards of service to the ipublic. "If a tourist stops now at Goosenecks or Indian Creek tState Park finding only one ,or two garbage cans and toilet facilities," Claus said "he may be inclined to pass .up Dead Horse Point State ,Park thinking the same general gen-eral lack of accommodations accommoda-tions is present there also." Officials during the tour expressed the thought that it may be best to limit Ih? name State Park to those areas which are manned full time and provide a greater selection of services to the visitors. Discussed also at Tuesday's Tues-day's Chamber luncheon was the proposed rest area at Thompson. State Highway (Department and TraVel rep-sentatives rep-sentatives inspected the (Proposed site east of Thompson Thomp-son last Thursday.
