He was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. Two other accidents also occurred in private parking lots, both on Sept. 5. At 8:40 p.m. in the City Market parking lot, Steve Zimmerman, Zimmer-man, driving a 1970 Ford pickup, was backing and failed to see a 19o-4 Pontiac driven by Nick Torres. He backed into the Pontiac. doing about S150 damage to it. At 11:30 p.m. in the MiVida parking lot, Gerald Thomas. driving a 10 Ford, ran into a parked 1964 Ford belonging to Charles Wilkinson, doing about J100 damage to the Wilkinson vehicle. There were no citations in either of these accidents as they were on private property. A 20 HP Mercury outboard motor, valued at about $750 w as reported missing from the Town TV storage lot, and had apparently been taken over the weekend, police report. The lock on the gate had been cut with bolt cutters to gain entrance to the lot. The theft is still under investigation. Two juveniles were arrested arrest-ed Sept. 7, charged with the theft of some money from a purse at the TraveLodge Motel. They have been turned over to juvenile authorities. |
