Show Public Urged to Attend Forest Hearing on Resources Individuals and groups interested in-terested in long-term management mana-gement of the Nation's renewable renew-able forest and range resources resour-ces are invited to attend a public hearing on September 18, in the Salt Palace. Salt Lake City. Utah. Two sessions -- one at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. -- will provide opportunities opportuni-ties for concerned" citizens to make comments on program alternatives being proposed by the U.S. Forest Service to provide natural resource goods and services over the next 45 years. To meet requirements of the Forest and Rangelancl Renewable Renew-able Resources Planning Act of 1974. the Forest Service last month published documents containing suggested program alternatives along with a comprehensive assessment of the Nation's renewable resources resour-ces on l.h billion acres of forest and rangelancl. These document -- "Assessment" and "Program" -- arc available avail-able to the public at all Forest Service headquarters. A "Summary" of the two lengthy leng-thy reports is also available. Persons planning to participate partici-pate in the hearing are encouraged to review the documents and discuss any questions they might have with local Forest Service Officials before the hearing. 1 S- S-- SS SSS Dean A. Attorncy-ln-Charge, will be hearing officer at the Salt Lake City Field hearing, which is being conducted for the Chief of the Forest Service. He will be represented by a member of his Washington Staff. Either oral or written statements can be presented. If the schedule is crowded, witnesses may be requested to summarize oral statements; however, the full statement will be included in the record. Those wishing to reserve a time for making oral presentations presenta-tions can do so by calling the Forest Service Regional Office at Ogden, Utah (801-399-o4o7). Registration will be held at the Salt Palace on September 18 prior to the hearings. Written comments and suggestions sug-gestions can be submitted until October 15 to: Chief, U.S. Forest Service, Washington, D.C. 20250. Based on public comments, a final assessment and program pro-gram will be developed and sent to the President for transmittal to Congress by December 31. 1975. |
