Show Utah Job Service is Number One Governor Scott Matheson has received notice from the Department Depart-ment of Labor's Employment Employ-ment & Training Administration Admin-istration Regional office in Denver that the Utah Job Service now ranks number one among the 52 Employment Employ-ment Security agencies in the nation on its job placement place-ment performance. Regional Administrator Floyd Edwards told Gov. Matheson the Utah agency ranks first among the states on placement of individuals in jobs, on total job placements, on placement of individuals in non-subsidized jobs and on overall service. It was a "clean sweep" for the Utah agency effort based on the performance indicators, Mr. Edwards said. Utah Job Service gives job placement a high priority among its varied services and had set itself the goal of becoming the number one ES agency in the nation about two years ago. Since then the volume of its placement activity has risen steadily. During calendar year 1977 the Utah Job Service filled 76,000 job openings, an increase of 31 percent over 1975. While some of the overall over-all increase in placements is attributed to steadily improving conditions of the Utah economy, a significant part is due to the emphasis the Utah agency has placed on improving im-proving the quality of its placement activities. The performance indicators in-dicators reflect not only increases in the totals of placement actions, but also increases in the qual ity of placements. More Utahns were placed in better jobs, higher paying jobs and jobs of longer duration. In addition to providing its basic labor market exchange functions in 27 Job Service Office locations loca-tions throughout the state, the Utah Job Service prc- vides placement service for other manpower pro-; pro-; grams such as WIN and CETA. Governor Matheson said he is very pleased with the Utah agency. Floyd Edwards attributes 5 the Utah performance to effective management and hard work on the part of the Utah Job Service staff throughout the state. |
