Due to the recent influx of hang gliders to the Park, officials are asking that certain stipulations be honored before any gliders attempt to launch within Park boundaries. First, all pilots wishing to launch from any area within the boundaries of Dead Horse Point State Park must check in at the Visitor Center desk before any launch preparations are made. Second, no pilot shall attempt a flight from any area within Park boundaries unless he or she has in their possession a Class IV Hang Rating marked for all "special skills" except "towing" and "auxilliary power". Persons attempting to launch without regard to these minimal requirements require-ments will be asked to leave the Park. Campers and visitors are reminded that the Dead Horse Point camp-loop camp-loop is officially opened for the season now. There are 21 camp units, each with electrical hook-ups, sheltered picnic areas with overhead lighting, and tent pads. There is a 1 $3.00 camping fee per night per vehicle, or if a Utah Fun Tag or Special Fun Tag is presented, the fee is $2.00 Advance reservations re-servations can be made by writing P.O. Box 187, Moab, Utah 84532 or phoning the Park at 259-6511, but payment must be received before arrival date. Persons wishing to make reservations reserva-tions are urged to do so several weeks in advance. There is no entrance fee for day use of the Park. |
