Show kc:;rship Was Feature Topic Saturday "Is it safe to follow the leadership of the majority?" This was the sermon theme of L. Osborn, pastor of Moab : Seventh-day Adventist Church Osborn based Saturday's sermon ser-mon on Matthew 7:13, 14 which reads: "Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, destruc-tion, and many there be which go in thereat: because straight is the gate and narrow nar-row is the way, which leadeth lead-eth unto life, and few there be that find it." Pastor Osborn pointed out the trends in the religious attitudes at-titudes of the majority, the turmoil erupting throughout the nation's young people, the looseness in dress and conduct, con-duct, and the departure from true godliness and Christianity. Christian-ity. The conclusion of the ser-pion ser-pion was a challenge to be different, to not be afraid to stand for right conduct in a personal way thereby making yourself into a better citizen of America and a candidate for God's election. The local Seventh-day Adventist' Ad-ventist' Sabbath School last Saturday, under the leadership leader-ship of Dr. Jay P. Munsey, had a number of features of interest. Dr. Munsey opened the service with the reading of a poem stressing the present-day need of loving the Bible as the Word of God. Dr. Dail Magee presented his monthly feature of religious relig-ious world news, a brief resume res-ume of the latest issue of Christianity Today. Dr. Magee Ma-gee referred to the intellectual intellect-ual suicide of many young people of various churches "People are studying themselves them-selves right out of the church yet are ignoring the very important im-portant facts that would make their religious experiences more meaningful." Magee also al-so reported from the above source of the way that large church organizations are split ting their opinions, watering down their past beliefs in or-der or-der to gain more popularity with the masses. Next Saturday's 11:00 O' clock sermon at die Seventh-day Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mo-ab Mo-ab will be presented by layman lay-man John Schuman on the subject of religious liberty and (he implications of recent re-cent moves to legislate religion re-ligion in the United States. |
